01 / PLATFORM OVERVIEW

Bolt-action precision rifle

A bolt-action rifle centers on the action, bolt, barrel, trigger, stock or chassis, bottom metal or magazine system, optic, and support interfaces. Dimensional compatibility and a stable sighting system are central to the complete package.

Stock / chassis

The stock or chassis supports the action and defines the primary shoulder, cheek, grip, and support interfaces.

INTERFACE REVIEW

Confirm action inlet, bedding or mounting system, bottom metal, and user fit.

RESEARCH STARTING POINTS

Public technical orientation—not assembly instruction. Exact dimensions, interfaces, specifications, service procedures, and lawful configuration are model and jurisdiction dependent. Use current manufacturer documentation and a qualified armorer or gunsmith where appropriate.

02 / PLATFORM-SPECIFIC FIELD STRIP

Bolt-action precision rifle field strip

For many precision bolt actions, ordinary field stripping means removing the detachable magazine and bolt for safe bore, chamber, lug, and bolt inspection. Detailed bolt, trigger, bedding, chassis, or barrel work is not routine field stripping.

OPERATING SYSTEMManually operated rotating bolt; bolt-release, cocking, magazine, and safety systems are action-specific.ORDINARY FIELD SERVICE / NOT ARMORER DISASSEMBLY

PREPARATION & TOOLS
  • Exact action or rifle manual
  • Stable padded bench
  • Bore guide and caliber-correct cleaning equipment
  • Small parts tray for detachable magazine or bolt accessories
MAJOR FIELD-STRIP COMPONENTS
  • Rifle and barreled action remain assembled
  • Detachable magazine when fitted
  • Complete bolt assembly
  • Bolt shroud and firing-pin assembly remain intact unless the manual expressly says otherwise

STEP 01 / SAFE1 OF 8

Open the action and verify clear

Keep the muzzle safe, place the safety as the manual directs, remove the detachable magazine or empty the fixed magazine, and open the bolt. Inspect the chamber, bolt face, feed area, and magazine well or internal magazine visually and physically. Remove all ammunition from the bench.

CONFIRM BEFORE CONTINUING
  • Magazine removed or emptied
  • Bolt open
  • Chamber and feed system checked
PLATFORM CAUTION

A removed detachable magazine does not clear a cartridge already in the chamber.

MODEL VARIATIONS & COMMON MISTAKESEXPAND +
  • Side-lever, trigger-assisted, and other bolt-release systems
  • Detachable-box versus fixed or blind magazines
  • Two-position and three-position safeties
  • Push-feed, controlled-round-feed, straight-pull, and proprietary multi-lug actions
MANUFACTURER MANUAL CONTROLS

This guide is a platform-level orientation to ordinary field stripping only. Before disassembly, use the manufacturer’s current manual for the exact make, model, caliber or gauge, generation, configuration, specifications, safety instructions, and function-check sequence. Stop if the firearm differs from the description, a part resists normal hand pressure, or damage is suspected. Detailed bolt, trigger, firing-pin, extractor, ejector, gas-system, magazine-tube, headspace, timing, or fitted-component work belongs to a qualified armorer or gunsmith.
